REPRO/FANTASY ITEMS???
(reprinted here with permission of Mike Noll - last updated 11/14/99)

Here are some items to look out for (in my opinion - Mike Noll): FYI: Not many people are aware of it, but the Single Dot And Double Dot Pepsi logo is still authorized for use today by Pepsi suppliers. Know the dealer. If he won't guarantee it as old item, MOVE ON.

As we all know new items are popping up every day, but be aware of dealers selling new items as NOS because of the OLD logo items. Now that Pepsi is observing their 100TH Anniversary I would expect to see new repro and fantasy items released on the market.

1. Pepsi/Pete cardboard die-cut fan pull. Has brass eyelet shows Pepsi for 5 cents (sold as 1960's/1970’s or earlier NOS)

2. Marbles: Pepsi bottle breaking through sign with Double:Dot crown , also old bottle cap

3. White milk glass rectangular candy dish/ashtray. Has red Double:Dot script logo

4. Oval brass token. Pepsi bottle engraved on one side. 1" x 1 1/2" Pepsi in the bottle 5 cents This isn't from 1930-40's date of manufacture is currently unknown.

5. Cobalt blue eyecup. White satin Pepsi Double:Dot script logo

6. Wood handled ice pick. with Red Pepsi Single Dot Script logo on all 4 sides, 9" long

7. S & P shakers. Double:Dot Pepsi decal

8. 1973 75th. Anniversary. Amber Pepsi bottle, as old amber bottles. These can be easily recognized by the color. Hold up a sheet of paper with text on it behind the repro and you can read it, you can't read it through the original. Repro won't accept a crown, lip is too large.

9. 1973 75th. Anniversary. Glasses out of the glass and tray set. These are being sold as NOS.

10. Red & blue matches. with old Double:Dot Pepsi logo, Hit The Spot logo with striker on the back. Strikers were on front until 1970?

11. New Bern Pepsi watch fob. with #U6705 These were made in different. colors of metal.  It's now come to my attention the #U6 is being ground off leaving 705 BEWARE

12. Red thermometer. with blue bottle caps top/bottom Circa 1989-1993 shows #44 or #45 above 100 degrees. Size is 7" x 27"

13. Pepsi/Pete glass. (Very difficult to tell apart) Repro glass letters are closer together.  Original glass has an "L" on the bottom for Libby glass company, repro has an "Anchor" for Anchor hocking glass company.

14. Mountain Dew straight side glass with "It'll tickle your innards" and Hillbilly head in green ink. (this isn't the pedestal goblet)

15. Shot glass. with white wavy banner and red Pepsi Double:Dot script logo

16. White milk glass vase. 4 1/2" tall Red Pepsi Double:Dot script logo

17. Test bottles. 3 different sizes? with Pepsi Double:Dot script logo running top to bottom. Bottles are clear.

18. Butter dish. w/lid Red Pepsi Double:Dot script logo 8" long x 3" tall

19. Marbles: Solid yellow, Green/White, Purple/White are 3 different varieties

20. Dice. w/ round ball with Pepsi logo through the middle

21. 9" round Celluloid has "Ice Cold" at top, Pepsi Double:Dot script logo through middle and "Sold here" at bottom

22. Carnival glass creamer/toothpick holder? has white Pepsi Double:Dot script logo, stands 2" tall

23. Gear shift knob. Cobalt blue 2 1/4" dia. white Double:Dot script logo

24. Rolling pin with wood handles and white ceramic center, red Double:Dot script logo

25. Glass sugar pourer. 5 1/2" tall chrome top, red Double:Dot script logo (decal?)

26. Brass bottle opener. reproduced in 1983? (sold for $20) D:D script logo stamped on one side, butt is milled flat. Originals are supposed to have a more rounded butt?

27. White milk glass eyecup.Blue Single Dot Pepsi-Cola block logo,3"tall pedestal base

28. Straight side "PURPLE" color bottles. This is a deep purple color, not a light Amethyst color. I don't know much more about these. HELP..............

29. 1948 Double:Dot throw away bottle. 6oz size. Normally clear, these are being   exposed to Gamma? rays which turn the bottle a pale/ugly color of amber. They are trying to pass these off as an amber variety of this bottle.

30. Porcelain Thimble. Finsbury Fine Bone china, Made in England.  Gold band around base. Pepsi Double:Dot script logo in red.  America's Biggest Nickel’s Worth

31. Cobalt Blue Pitcher. 3 ¾" tall with 4 glasses 2" tall. White D:D script logo

32. Glass Trinket Box. 4 ¾" x 3 ¾" x 2" deep. Red D:D script logo

33. Cigarette Lighter. Zippo style with Drink Pepsi Today in Blue letters

34. Double Bubble Bottle cap Clock. If you would like to compare the fake to the real photos in some in the collector books, look at the top of the number 3. The other numbers are too skinny, the bottle caps for numbers are too tall, the "Drink" and "Ice Cold" should run up and down the wave, and the stripe inside the numbers is too heavy. The people that have seen this clock in person say it looks like crap side by side with a real clock. This info was passed on to me by a concerned fellow collector.   Were talking about a $1200-1300 clock here, not a $5 trinket.

Please BEWARE of this Repro clock!!

35. Trolley car cardboard signs. I’m currently being told there are 3 different signs being reproduced. These would be the 2 Black people with the movie projector, 3 Black people with the birthday cake and the 2 White people dressed up in masquerade ball clothes. I think there are really 4. There seems to be way too many of the Pepsi Big Shot sign showing up also. They measure 11" x 28" and are Marked Litho in USA and the #"s C-49, C730, C-50.

36. 1908 Pepsi watch fob. It’s a vertical oval shape and I believe it shows an engraving on the front of it with John Smith and Pocahontas on it.

37. 1909 serving tray. It was reproduced in 1973 and again in 1983. The original tray MFG. was "Niagara Buffalo" and the back of the tray was an Olive drab green.

38. 1908 serving tray. This tray is also being, or has been reproduced.  Anyone who knows that these items are old and can authenticate any of the above items, I would like to hear from you.

I would also like to hear about any new items that pop up. Thanks for your time and concern. I'm tired of hearing new Pepsi collector horror stories...........
